It started with a rabbit family.
When I was in kindergarten, we had a writing assignment. We were given a few slips of paper, and if we needed more room, we could tape another piece onto the bottom and keep going.
So I did.
I wrote about a rabbit family, and I kept going.
I followed them through every season, then another year, then another. Their lives continued, their story expanded, and every time I reached the bottom of the page, I just taped on another piece and kept writing.
By the time I was finished, I had created something like 33 feet of paper.
I don't remember what the assignment was supposed to be.
But I remember the story.
And honestly, when I look at the way I think now, it makes perfect sense.
I've always wanted to know what happens next.
I've carried that curiosity with me ever since. It shows up differently now—through science, process engineering, learning, technology, AI, orchids, espresso, and an alarming number of spreadsheets—but the impulse is the same.
I see something interesting.
I want to understand it.
Then I want to know what happens if I change something.
And then I want to see where it goes.

The thread through my work
My career has moved through science, quality, training, learning and development, process engineering, and technology. On paper, those can look like separate chapters. To me, they have always been part of the same story.
Science taught me to follow evidence, pay attention to small variables, and question whether what something looks like is what is actually happening underneath.
Training taught me that understanding something myself wasn’t enough. Knowledge has to be accessible, usable, and connected to what people actually need to do.
Process engineering gave me a way to examine how work really happens—the handoffs, decisions, dependencies, workarounds, information flows, and gaps between the process people describe and the process they live.
Technology created a new question:
What becomes possible when we bring all of that together?
That is the work I’m drawn to now: untangling complex problems, connecting information and perspectives that are usually considered separately, and turning what I learn into something practical.
A better process.
A clearer way to teach something.
A system that makes knowledge easier to use.
A tool that removes unnecessary work.
A way to make the previously invisible visible.
The rabbit holes continue.

Give me an unfamiliar subject and I'm likely to fall down the rabbit hole.
I grow orchids, and am an Accredited American Orchid Society Judge, which has taught me an absurd amount about observation, experimentation, patience, systems, and tiny environmental variables.
During COVID, I saw people struggling to get masks that actually fit and worked for them. I started designing and sewing my own, iterating on the patterns, figuring out better ways to create a seal and accommodate different faces, and eventually making and sending hundreds to people who needed them.
Even standing in line at Panda Express can apparently become a process-engineering exercise. I noticed the cooks were relying on shouted requests from the front counter and thought: There's got to be a better way to make the work visible. So I mentally designed a Kanban system out of drink cups.
And this is where I'm going next.
I’m exploring what happens at the intersection of process, people, learning, technology, and AI—and what becomes possible when we stop treating them as separate disciplines.
The rabbit family may be long gone.
But I’m still following the thread.
